Precautions

  • Strictly prohibit reflow soldering: High‑temperature reflow process will damage internal cell. Only manual soldering iron on tabs is allowed.
  • Working current limit: Designed for micro‑ampere trickle charge & discharge. Do not apply large‑current load.
  • Over‑discharge caution: Deep over‑discharge may recover partially but will shorten service life. Avoid discharging below 2.0V.
  • Charging requirement: Use recommended charging voltage 3.1V ~ 3.3V. Do not exceed maximum charge / discharge current rating.
  • Operating temperature range: -20℃ ~ +60℃. Do not use outside this temperature scope.

Typical Applications

  • Real‑Time Clock (RTC) power backup in smart meters, security systems, and network routers
  • SRAM and non‑volatile memory data preservation in IoT gateways and portable electronics
  • Ultra‑compact wearable devices, smart rings, health trackers, and medical monitors
  • Backup power modules in digital cameras, handheld barcode scanners, and wireless beacons
  • Embedded microcontrollers, smart home sensors, and industrial telemetry systems

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is the main difference between MS621FE and MS614SE?

A1: Both are Seiko 3V MS‑series rechargeable batteries. MS614SE is thinner (1.4 mm vs 2.1 mm) with 3.4 mAh capacity, for ultra‑thin space‑limited PCB designs.

Q2: What does the “‑FL28E” suffix stand for?

A2: FL28E denotes factory‑pre‑welded SMD surface‑mount solder tabs, defining terminal geometry for direct PCB soldering.

Q3: How should I design the charging circuit for MS614SE‑FL28E?

A3: Use regulated 3.1V‑3.3V charging voltage (3.1V recommended). Add series resistor to limit max charging current to 15 μA.

Q4: Can I get custom tab or cable assembly versions?

A4: Yes, custom solder tabs, pin terminals and wire harness assemblies are available. Send your specifications via inquiry form.

Q5: Can I use MS614SE‑FL28E to replace CR2032 / CR1220 primary coin cell?

A5: Not direct drop‑in replacement. CR series are disposable lithium primary cells. MS614SE‑FL28E is rechargeable MS‑chemistry cell with different charge requirements and lower continuous current rating.

Q6: Are there other suffix options for MS614SE base cell?

A6: MS614SE bare cell (no tabs), MS614SE‑FL28E (SMD flat tabs). Different suffix only changes terminal style, core electrical parameters stay identical.

Q7: What are typical internal impedance and weight of MS614SE‑FL28E?

A7: Typical internal impedance ≈80 Ω; unit weight approx 0.17 g.

Q8: What soldering rules must I follow for FL28E tabs?

A8: Reflow soldering is strictly forbidden. Only manual soldering iron on metal tabs. High‑temperature reflow will permanently damage the battery core.

Q9: What is the operating temperature range?

A9: Rated working temperature: -20 ℃ ~ +60 ℃. Do not charge or discharge outside this temperature window.

Q10: Can two MS‑series batteries be used in parallel or series?

A10: Series connection is not recommended. Parallel connection requires tightly matched cell parameters to avoid imbalance and shorten service life.
