Precautions

  • Charging Requirement: Keep charging voltage 2.80‑3.10V (nominal 3.0V). Add current‑limiting resistor on charge path. Over‑voltage will cause leakage or permanent cell damage.
  • Soldering Rule: Only solder on TZ1 terminals. Do not solder directly to battery can. For wave soldering: 250‑270℃, soldering time ≤5 seconds to avoid over‑heat damage.
  • Anti‑Short‑Circuit: Prevent terminal short‑circuit during handling and storage, short‑circuit will damage internal structure.
  • Polarity Check: Confirm correct polarity before soldering. Reverse charging will destroy the battery.
  • Operation Prohibition: Do not disassemble, crush, burn or mix different battery types, risk of swelling, leakage or fire hazard.

Typical Applications

  • Real‑Time Clock (RTC) power backup in smart energy meters, security systems, and industrial controllers
  • SRAM and non‑volatile memory data retention in automotive electronics, telematics, and gateways
  • Backup power modules in digital cameras, POS terminals, and handheld instruments
  • Wireless IoT sensors, environmental monitoring nodes, and smart home automation devices
  • Embedded microcontrollers, medical telemetry units, and asset management systems

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Is the FDK ML621‑TZ1 a rechargeable or primary battery?

A: ML621‑TZ1 is secondary rechargeable 3.0V ML coin cell, designed for long‑term backup power.

Q2: What does the “TZ1” suffix indicate in the ML621‑TZ1 part number?

A: TZ1 means factory‑pre‑welded through‑hole pin terminals for PCB soldering. Other suffixes stand for different terminal styles; PCB modification is required for cross‑suffix replacement.

Q3: How should the charging circuit for the ML621‑TZ1 be designed?

A: Use regulated constant‑voltage 2.80‑3.10V (nominal 3.0V) with series current‑limiting resistor. Continuous trickle‑charge is allowed for backup applications.

Q4: Can ML621‑TZ1 directly replace CR2032 or other lithium coin cells?

A: Not direct drop‑in replacement. CR‑series are primary non‑rechargeable; ML621‑TZ1 is rechargeable and requires charging circuit. Dimension and pin layout also differ.

Q5: Are there cross‑brand compatible alternatives for ML621‑TZ1?

A: Few direct pin‑to‑pin cross‑brand equivalents. Most competing ML‑type cells use different terminals. Bare ML621 can work but needs manual terminal welding, not fit for mass production.

Q6: What is the correct soldering requirement for ML621‑TZ1?

A: Only solder TZ1 metal pins. Wave soldering condition: 250‑270℃ within 5 seconds. Never solder battery can directly; high heat will damage internal sealing structure.

Q7: What is difference between ML621 bare cell and ML621‑TZ1?

A: ML621 bare cell has no terminals. ML621‑TZ1 adds factory‑welded TZ1 through‑hole pins. Electrical specs are identical, only mounting structure differs.

Q8: Can I order custom terminal pin designs, lead wires, or connectors for FDK batteries?

A: Custom terminals, pins and wire assemblies are available upon request. Submit your specs via our Quick Inquiry for tailored battery solutions.
